In South Carolina, we build warriors! Whether it be Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, or Airmen.
When it is time for them to come home, we must embrace our heroes with a sense of community that recognizes the experiences our Veterans have had, supports what they need as civilians, and capitalizes on the unique skills they bring to the table.
As Governor, I’ll fight for the following:
- South Carolina should lead the nation in programs, designed not to just to train and educate Veterans, but dedicated to educating and training employers on what Veterans can bring to the table.
- Our state can improve outreach to Veterans. A state’s efforts to help veterans can seem complex and confusing to a returning veteran. Like a jigsaw puzzle with a lot of work required of them to get the assistance they need. Sometimes, the solution to the difficulties Veterans face is not one of creating new benefits or services, but is more in creating easier access to programs that already are available.
We need to work hand in hand with Veterans groups and organizations to help both Veterans and active duty service members get necessary licenses and certifications for the jobs they are seeking.
Our Veterans deserve our full support, and it’s time that they have it.
